Poggio Civitella is a hill 661 meters above sea level in Val d'Orcia, two kilometers from Montalcino, which owes its name to the presence in the Etruscan age, of a village, which was buried under the walls of a fortress.
Always known, the ruins of the fortress were classified in the twenties of the Twentieth century, by the archeologist Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli, as belonging to a protohistoric castle.
Starting from the summer of 2018, the park can be visited by appointment at the Pro Loco of Montalcino.
